Welcome to the Leafies Short Film Competition, where we showcase the creativity and environmentalism of student filmmakers. Whether you’re passionate about conservation, climate action, or local eco-stories, the Leafies is the perfect platform to share your vision. Submissions are open now, so get ready to bring your ideas to life and create a greener world together!
PRIZES AND JUDGING
The submissions will be judged by our impartial committee based on creativity, content, and audience interaction. We'll be looking for films that show a great ability to educate, inspire, and raise awareness of their chosen topic.

Films will not be judged on equipment quality! Whether shooting with an iPhone or Nikon Red, we care more about your message than your equipment. This is a competition for everyone!

The best film will be shown alongside one of our screenings as part of the February Green Film Festival, and will receive a cash prize and a Jellycat frog stuffie.
RULES AND REGS
We welcome any films between 2 and 5 minutes long.
Any film types (genre, documentary, vlog, etc.) are accepted.
Films must have some link to the environment.
Entrants must be
a student of the University of St Andrews
a staff member of the University of St Andrews
or a resident of Fife.
